PC
Review says, "pcAnywhere move over"
|
|
Radio
host Diane Pencil recently reviewed NetOp and concluded,
" PCAnywhere, move over; NetOp is in town. All
aspects of remote operations are handled in NetOp. The
install is quick, the documentation is excellent, security
is well addressed and it's faster on top of all that. If
you are looking for a remote control package, NetOp is the
one to consider first.

ENT
Magazine calls NetOp, "more robust and faster than
pcAnywhere"
|
|
In
a recent review that compared NetOp directly with
Symantec's pcAnywhere ENT magazine wrote, "NetOp is
unlike pcAnywhere 32 in many ways, but we expected a
similar experience when remotely controlling a system.
Instead, the sophistication and scalability of the NetOp
6.0 environment makes a comparison with pcAnywhere 32
untenable. ...NetOp is more robust and faster than its
competitors and offers a much more extensive array of
configuration options."

Why do professional engineers choose NetOp rather
than the popular software pcAnywhere?
Here is the the answer from the system developer,
Danware Data A/S.

NetOp
Remote Control 6.5 and Symantec pcAnywhere
- Remote control of MS Windows NT 4.0 from other
Windows NT4.0 via TCP/IP is significantly faster with NetOp Remote Control.
It especially shows when opening and closing windows like Windows Explorer
and MS Word. The presentation of full screen PowerPoint slides definitely
lets NetOp outperform pcAnywhere with as much as 250%.
- Via IPX/SPX pcAnywhere only supports one session at a
time - NetOp support multiple sessions.
- NetOp can pass firewalls that uses NAT
(Network Address Translation), pcAnywhere cannot.
- The Gateway supports multiple networks protocols -
pcAnywhere only deals with one-to-one e.g. modem to TCP/IP.
- Under TCP/IP NetOp can use TCP or UDP -
pcAnywhere can only use UDP.
- The NetOp Guest Browse function under Quick Connect
leaves a list of Hosts with a timestamp - with pcAnywhere you need to
browse every time.
- NetOp has Request for Help from the Host - pcAnywhere
has nothing like that.
- With the Browse function under NetOp you can use many
protocols at the same time - pcAnywhere only offers one protocol at a time.
- NetOp has an excellent Guest phonebook layout with
hierarchic folder structure containing connection files - pcAnywhere
needs to open a navigation window every time you want to look in a different
folder for Host connection files.
- Under pcAnywhere you cannot initiate a chat session
from their Connection files.
- NetOp has Audio chat on any protocol -
pcAnywhere has nothing except switch to voice on modem connections.
- The text chat under pcAnywhere does not automatically
pop up on the Host when activated from the Remote (Guest) program.
- The Gateway under pcAnywhere does not have any
security setting to prevent unauthorized persons from using the gateway to
browse for hosts.
- Real centralized security with the Access
Server - with pcAnywhere the rights for each Guest or Group still
remains on each Host and needs to be updated by distributing new
configuration files with the pcAnywhere Host Administration program every
time you want to change the rights.
